And decisions don’t come any more staggeringly brutal than DWP ruling on the case of doting grandmother Alison Shaw and her grieving husband Isaac.

Benefits chiefs have refused to reverse their decision to deny widower Isaac a bereavement payment after his wife was kept alive for three days to donate her organs.
