Chelsea McGill has been living with her four children in two hotel rooms since April, but she’s about to give birth to another child
A heavily pregnant mum has been forced to live in a hotel with her four children because her benefits have been capped.
Chelsea McGill is being put up in two hotel rooms but she says she has been told by health visitors the accommodation is not suitable for a new baby.
The 25-year-old is in emergency accommodation because she lost her home on April 1, when her landlord sold the property.
And council bosses said they were unable to find private sector accommodation because the family are subject to the Benefit Cap.
Miss McGill has two daughters aged seven and four years and two boys of 21 months and 11 months, the youngest of which is not yet walking, reports Get Reading .
“Our rooms are two floors up and I just don’t know how I am going to carry a baby in a car seat and my youngest son up the stairs,” she says.
Miss McGill has been living in The George Hotel in Pangbourne where she says Reading Borough Council told her she would be for three to six weeks – but that has stretched to more than four months.
